Greetings everyone,
We have secured a new date for the race. The 12 Hours of Blue Mound will be Saturday, September 18th. We were unable to use the WEMS scheduled rain date as the park is public hunting grounds and there is a gun deer hunt on that date.
Online registraion is active again up until Midnight Wednesday September 15th and mail-in registrations should be postmarked by Saturday September 11th.
Click the blue button above to register online.
Hope everyone can make it!
Thanks,
Nate and Kevin

Everyone CAN'T make it. It's the same date as the biggest mt. bike race in the midwest, The Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival.
ReplyDeleteAre you kidding! Could more poor decision making REALLY go on in this series?????????
ReplyDeleteYeah, are you sure you couldn't just tack another week onto August? We could make it up by skipping leap years until 2040....
ReplyDeletePoopy, my point is that maybe WEMS should consult with race directors about whether or not a rain date will work for their particular course. Effective communication at the outset of the season would be greatly appreciated by those of us with very busy race schedules.
ReplyDeleteWow ... seems like a lot of WEMS racers will be up north that weekend ... I love Blue Mounds, but I entered FT40 five months ago ...
ReplyDeleteBlue Mound is still in our plans. Not all of us race the Cheq. Tough to make it work for everyone due to limited weekends til the end of the season. Thanks for all of your efforts as it isn't easy putting on these events!
ReplyDeleteWe knew this weekend would present conflicts with other events. So does nearly every other weekend remaining on the calendar...especially when you throw cyclocross racing into the mix. Regretfully, we don't have many other options.
ReplyDelete@ Amy: When choosing the rain date weekend, WEMS is facing the same conflicts with other evets. There just aren't any open dates on the calendar.
If anyone has pre-registered for the 12 Hours of Blue Mound and can't make the rescheduled date, you have an e-mail explaining the situation. You will receive a refund for your entry fee.
We're blessed with a unique situation in Wisconsin, the chance to race your MTB nearly every weekend from the beginning of May till the end of October. Sometimes this means that tough decisions have to be made. I'll see about building a dome over BMSP next year so we don't have to worry about rain!
As someone who was not lucky enough to get into the Cheq 40 I am very glad for the this date for the make up of the race. Would have had to drive 7 hours each way to Michigan to find another race that weekend. So this saves lots of gas and mileage.
ReplyDeleteThose of us who prefer quality over hype will still be attending the race...thanks for keeping it on the calendar!
ReplyDeleteOh wow! So we registered for cheqfat in March already knowing what the two possible dates for blue mounds were per the WEMS site.
ReplyDeleteQuality? Since when is a course like that safe for riding 12 hours let alone 3 or 6 hours?
Oh and to have the SS Championships and Series Overall decided at a race that a majority will NOT attend??????????? This makes no sense.
