Race Postponed!

Hey Racers,

Unfortunately, the 12 Hours of Blue Mound is postponed. We've been getting a steady heavy rain this morning and the forecast for tonight isn't any better. Combine that with already wet trails and we've got a slippery, dangerous race course. Stay tuned for a rescheduled date!

Thanks,
Nate and Kevin

  1. What crappy timing of the weather. So looking foward to the 12 hour race! Well, something to look forward to then.

    Thanks guys!

  2. So will teams stay registered and will there be an option to transfer this to another event if the rescheduled date does not work?

  3. Whatever happened to racing in the rain?

  4. Bummer! Teammates were on the way up to camp for the weekend. Hoping future date works for us. Thanks for your effort as I know this is a big task! Blue Mound never disappoints!

  5. 1. If a preregistered racer can't make it to our new race date (TBD) we will refund the entry fee. We have no way of transferring to another event.

    2. Whatever happened to racing in the rain, Charlie? Trail damage happened. And at Blue Mounds, major injuries happen. And lots and lots of walking happens. The angular, sharp rocks that make our Blue Mound trail challenging when its dry, make it downright dangerous when wet. Believe me, we wanted to have this race. We set the entire course Friday morning, in the rain. While doing so, the trails were still officially open, and to my amazement two people showed up to ride. I chatted with them to make sure they knew what they were in for. They both had ridden there before, were skilled riders, and were aware that it had just rained. Their ride lasted about 15 minutes before they gave up.

  6. Good call on canceling the race. However, for the ultra-badass endurance racers who embrace stupidly terrible conditions, you should've still held an "unofficial" race...the least bloodiest rider wins. That would suit their psyches [and blogs] well, and everyone goes home or to the hospital happy.
